Course Description

Each session will tell rich Tennessee stories through selected artifacts, e.g., about 6-7 artifacts/objects per class. An example in the Civil War might be the uniform coat of Irish immigrant Hugh Gwyn, which tells the story of immigration, brother-against brother (his brother was a Union general), and commitment to the Southern Cause (and what was the cause) long after the war. He founded a Confederate veterans association in California. Dan Pomeroy will introduce each session, but each session will be presented by a knowledgeable and engaging staff member at the Tennessee State Museum. At the end of each session those in-person attendees at the museum will have the opportunity to go upstairs to the exhibit floor for an onsite tour. The tour group will be limited to twenty people, with preregistration required. This course will be recorded.
