October 24th: Transformational Fashion: Historic Styles and their Reinvention
In fashion, is anything ever truly new? Throughout the ages, historic design styles have been reimagined through inspirational intersections with art, politics, and the spirit of the perpetual pursuit of novelty. We will explore historic examples of fashion reinvention through the ages, with a focus on contemporary designers and how they engage with the past to shape present and future aesthetics.
December 5th: We’re Going Shopping! for 19th Century Fashion Innovations that Endure.
Join us on a stylish journey through the evolution of men’s and women’s 19th century fashion silhouettes and styles. We will explore how fashion trends evolved, with a focus on transformational cultural and technological innovations that continue to shape contemporary sartorial practices.
January 16th: Sustainable Fashion: Issues, Practices, and Possibilities
What is the contemporary sustainable fashion movement? How did we get here, what progress is being made to make the fashion industry more sustainable, and what might the future of fashion look like based where we’ve been and what is happening right now?
