VUSN-MC0002 - Preparing Future Faculty

Course Description

This course prepares students and new faculty for employment as educators in academic and other complex organizations. Content is focused on developing the competencies required to successfully assume the responsibilities of the faculty role. Course concepts include functioning within the educational environment, developing research abilities within the faculty role, understanding the teaching-learning process, using technology in education, understanding civic engagement and service, and developing effective communication skills with diverse groups. Additional concepts cover career development as faculty, project management, teamwork, institutional citizenship, networking, mentoring, managing conflict, and organizational behaviors.
