Course Description

In this beginning level, students will learn the basics of metal working to create jewelry and small sculpture in copper. Gaining skills in sawing, hammering, and wire working will allow you to create original designs for jewelry – rings, chains, pendants, cuffs or small sculptural boxes and forms. In addition to learning how to use many of the tools in a metal studio, students will be introduced to photoresist acid etching, fold forming, wire working, and riveting. Some basic uses of the torch will also be covered as you explore and create in metal.
